Clavesin(clathrinvesicleassociatedSec14protein)isanovelneuronspecificproteinthathasrecentlybeenidentifiedandshowntoberequiredfornormalmorphologyoflateendosomesand/orlysosomesaslentiviral-mediatedknockdownofclavesininhippocampalneuronscauseslysosomaldefects(Katohetal.,2009).Additionally,upregulationofclavesininhumanhepatocellularcarcinomahasrecentlybeendemonstratedthusmakingitausefulMarkerforthisdiseasestate(Zhaoetal.,2008).
